How do you successfully communicate to all of Western Sacramento and Davis about the new utility handling their electricity bill without causing panic? Urban Bird Design and partner Green Ideals tackled this complicated public relations campaign by leveraging the voices of trusted names in the community to explain the concept and benefits of Valley Clean Energy. Friendly, recognizable faces and an approachable, playful font explained the benefits of cleaner energy, local control, and low cost in community newspapers, on the web, on bus sides, and a series of mailers sent to every resident in the service area. The rollout was so successful, the adjacent Winters area opted to join VCE in 2021!
